  • F-35 Arms and Military Equipment Storage Facility: This design-build project will include the construction of a 13,000-square-foot facility complete with a standard slab-on-grade foundation and steel structure with metal siding. Estimated contract amount $8-$12 million; expected to be awarded summer 2021.

SUSTIANABILITY, RESTORATION AND MODERNIZATION (SRM) PROJECTS – Earthquake repairs:
  • Talkeetna Theater, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson: Project to repair earthquake-related damages to the Talkeetna Theater’s structural systems and non-structural components that pose a risk to life and safety. Construction will mitigate any disturbed asbestos, lead paint, and other hazardous materials. ASRC Builders was awarded this $2.5 million 8(a) sole source contract in September 2020. Estimated completion October 2021.
  • Building 804, Central Issue Facility Warehouse, Fort Richardson: Project will repair earthquake related damages to the facility’s structural and non-structural systems that pose a risk to life and safety; efforts will phase so ongoing operations at the building continue during repair work. Eklutna Construction and Maintenance was awarded the $2.4 million contract in September 2020 under new SRM multiple-award task order contract. Estimated completion October 2021.
QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS:
  • Revitalize Barracks Day Rooms, Fort Wainwright: Project to upgrade 55 common areas of nearly 30 barrack facilities. Activities are anticipated to include new paint, flooring and window treatments, update kitchen areas and creation of dayrooms. Patrick Constructors LLC was awarded the $18.05 million 8(a) Small Business contract in September 2020. Estimated completion April 2022.
  • Renovate Building 3700 (library), Fort Wainwright: Project to revitalize the area by replacing carpet, enlarging children’s room, expanding computer section, painting and other interior efforts. Estimated cost is $5-$10 million. Draft request for proposals under review.
GENERAL SRM PROJECTS:
  • Repairs to Building 1001, Fort Wainwright: The design-build project will provide renovations for fire protection upgrades; life, health and safety requirements as well as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, and architectural improvements; add storage lockers, increase number of toilets and showers, add nine dayrooms on upper floors. Watterson Construction was awarded the $36.2 million contract in September 2020 with estimated completion April 2022.
  • Repairs to Building 1557, Fort Wainwright: Project to repair a failing facility to proper standards, improve working environment for soldiers and civilians, provide positive impact to readiness, seismic and structural components, lighting, electrical, plumbing, architectural, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, systems controls and fire protection systems. ASRC Builders was awarded the $24.1 million 8(a) Small Business contract in September 2020. Estimated completion July 2022.
  • Repairs to Building 2077, Fort Wainwright: Includes design and construction of repairs to hangars 7 and 8, upgrades to the architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, fire protection and structural systems and components. Paug-Vik Development Corp./GHEMM Company joint venture was awarded the $21.3 million 8(a) sole-source contract in September 2020. Estimated completion April 2022.
